About AB Osteopathy

AB Osteopathy is an independent osteopathic practice offering personal, hands-on care from our Edinburgh clinics. Founded in 2013 by Alexandria "Alex" Black, and later joined in partnership by Amanda Burnham, the practice has grown around a simple idea: every patient should feel listened to, properly understood and supported at every step of their care.

We support people at different stages of life, with appointments built around individual patient care rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether someone visits with pain, stiffness, injury, changes in mobility or a concern they are unsure about, we take time to understand the person behind the symptoms.

A Local Osteopathy Practice With a Personal Approach

AB Osteopathy has developed as a local practice with a strong focus on trust, care and clear communication. We want patients to feel welcome from the moment they get in touch, with time to ask questions and understand the options available.

As an independent practice, we are not trying to offer rushed appointments or a fixed approach for every person. Each appointment is shaped around the individual patient, their health history, their day-to-day life and what they want help with.

Our aim is to create a calm, supportive environment where people feel heard, respected and involved in their care.

What We Stand For

AB Osteopathy is built around compassionate, personalised care for people at every stage of life. The practice aims to feel warm, welcoming and approachable, while still giving patients clear, professional support.

That sense of individual patient care runs through the whole practice. We want people to feel comfortable asking questions, talking openly and understanding the options available before making decisions about treatment.

Care for Different Stages of Life

AB Osteopathy supports a wide range of patients, from babies and children through to adults, older patients, families, people returning to sport and those managing changes linked to work, activity or ageing.

Some patients come to us for help with back pain, neck pain, sciatica or sports injuries. Others may be looking for support during pregnancy and postnatal recovery, with scar tissue support or with concerns that have become part of daily life over time.

Whatever brings someone to the practice, the focus is always on the individual, not just the condition name.

Meet the AB Osteopathy Team

The AB Osteopathy team includes experienced practitioners with different backgrounds, interests and areas of focus. Each member of the team brings their own approach, but the shared aim is the same: to help patients feel listened to, supported and properly informed.

Patients can read more about each practitioner before booking, including their experience, areas of interest and the clinics they work from.

Our Edinburgh Clinics

AB Osteopathy offers appointments from two Edinburgh clinics, making it easier for patients to choose the location that works best for where they live, work or travel from.

The New Town Edinburgh clinic is based at Citibase on Saint Colme Street, close to Edinburgh’s West End, Princes Street and Queensferry Street.

The Trinity Edinburgh clinic is based on Granton Road in North Edinburgh, convenient for Trinity, Wardie, Granton, Newhaven, Goldenacre and nearby areas.

A Practice Built Around Trust

Trust is important when choosing an osteopath. Patients need to feel comfortable asking questions, talking about their concerns and understanding what is happening at each stage of their appointment.

At AB Osteopathy, consent, comfort and clear explanation are part of the way we work. If osteopathy is not suitable, your osteopath will explain why and may recommend another healthcare route. Your safety and wellbeing always come first.

For more practical information about first appointments, payment, cancellation terms and what to expect, the Osteopathy Fees and Appointments page gives a fuller guide.
